The Awards are for creative writing around a horseracing
theme by young people. There are prizes for the winner and runner-up in three
categories - under 26s/19s/15s.
The Awards, whose judges are chaired by Brough Scott for
the 11th successive year, offer £3,125 in prizes, an expenses-paid day at
Newmarket's Craven Meeting on Wednesday, April 17, and the opportunity for the
winners to be published.
Employees of the national and racing press, in a
journalistic capacity, are ineligible, meaning that the under 26 award
represents an attractive opportunity for a young regional or student
journalist. No previous experience of published or competitive writing is
required.
