The Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group Supports US$1,020m Meydan Card

Two Group 2 turf races, the US$250,000 Al Fahidi Fort over 1600m and the $200,000 Balanchine over 1800m are the focal points of The Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group-sponsored card at Meydan on Thursday February 21.

This meeting, the seventh of eleven Dubai World Cup Carnival meetings which culminate in the March 30 Dubai World Cup day, is worth US$1,020m in prize money.

It promises to be an interesting card with Igugu, the South African champion racehorse expected to make her highly anticipated UAE debut in the Balanchine, a race for fillies and mares only.

This is the second meeting of the season that bears the name of The Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group, with the company also supporting a Saturday race meeting on January 19.

Mr Abdullah Mohammed Juma Al Naboodah, Chairman of the Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group, said: “The Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group was founded 55 years ago and has become one of the leading brands in the UAE. We attribute this continued success to the fact that, as a family company, we embrace the traditional values of this country yet understand the importance of progression and development.

“We see our partnership with Meydan as an important tool for the promotion of our business yet more than that, we are pleased to be part of the long-held culture of horse racing in this country, which is headquartered here at Meydan.”

Malih Al Basti, Meydan Group Board Member and Chairman of the Meydan Racing Committee said: “This is the second season that Meydan has been associated with The Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group and it is a partnership that we see as key for the future development of the sport of horseracing in the country.

“The Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group has invested in the domestic and international season and is also a race sponsor on Dubai World Cup day, putting its name behind the UAE Derby.”

As one of the UAE's leading brand names, the Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group consists of more than 20 companies, offering a diverse portfolio of services and products throughout the UAE and GCC in four key business sectors - construction, commercial, investments and real estate. The family owned business is run independently as well as in partnership with some of the world's leading brands.
