FRANKEL FACTOR BOOSTS CROWD Newmarket Racecourses managing director Amy Starkey is pleased to report an 18 per cent attendance increase today on Betfred Cambridgeshire Day. The 'Frankel Factor' helped boost the crowd as 8,510 people came to the Rowley Mile Racecourse as opposed to 7,223 for the same day in 2011. Starkey said: "Frankel's gallop prior to racing really added to the day and made it feel extra special. "With two Group Ones, a Group Two and a historic and valuable handicap, it is already a fantastic day's racing. "But having Frankel with us ensured a great atmosphere on the racecourse and that stayed right throughout the day. "We are pleased that there was an additional 1,300 people here than for the same card last year. "But we believe that there is potential for further growth for this fixture and the team will continue to work hard to build on today's increase next year and beyond. PROSSER DELIGHTED WITH MEETING Newmarket clerk of the course and director of racing Michael Prosser expressed himself thrilled with the second staging of the new-look Cambridgeshire Festival.                                                 He said: "It has been an absolute pleasure to work at the meeting.                                                 "The racing has been outstanding and there has been depth to all of the races across the three days.                                                 "The meeting has really moved on from last year when we staged the first Cambridgeshire since the reshuffling of fixtures to do with British Champions Day.                         "The track has ridden well and has been praised by trainers and jockeys over the course of the meeting.                                     "We still have plenty to look forward to here with racing next weekend and then Future British Champions Day in two weeks' time." ALL GOOD AT NEWMARKET The going remains GOOD for the third and final day of the Cambridgeshire Festival at Newmarket's Rowley Mile Racecourse. Betfred Cambridgeshire Day features Frankel's gallop before racing and terrific racing all afternoon. It was dry overnight and the forecast is for the weather to remain dry with sunny spells. Michael Prosser, the clerk of the course, said at 8am: "The track is in very, very good condition. It obviously had a lot of summer rainfall and there is a really dense sward of grass and the track has held up well. "We have had a lot of runners, more than last year, but the track has been evenly used, with the stalls positioned to accommodate that. "The going is good. The times have been pretty quick over the last two days but there has been a tailwind and even today there is one slightly behind but not as strong as yesterday.   "I think the track is very even (across). The GoingStick readings show this and I honestly believe it is where the pace is that matters. Richard Hughes commented after the Silver Cambridgeshire yesterday that they went very fast on the far side. At halfway, the far side were probably three lengths in front and I think Shamdarley ran a blinder to finish third given the speed they went. "Frankel will arrive here at about 12.35pm with two gallop companions. It will be treated as a raceday. They will go to the pre-parade ring, have a good wander around, then get tacked up and come into the parade ring. They will work, with Frankel returning to the winner's enclosure." The Racing Post says: "Newmarket will serve up the ultimate in appetisers at lunchtime today when Frankel works with two stable companions as he builds toward his next assignment, Ascot's QIPCO Champion Stakes in three weeks." Racing Plus reiterates Frankel's scarcity value: "Racegoers will get what is likely to be a penultimate glimpse of Frankel at Newmarket this afternoon." The Daily Telegraph concentrates on yesterday's racing at Newmarket rather than looking forward to today. Racing correspondent JA McGrath wrote "Certify was probably not seen at her best yesterday but she still outclassed a good collection of juveniles in the Shadwell Fillies' Mile at Newmarket and is now as low as 6/1 favourite for next year's QIPCO 1,000 Guineas." The Guardian also gives most space to what happened at Newmarket yesterday through Greg Wood's report but Will Hayler, in his TV tips, does preview today's racing. Hayler reckons: "A change of luck would not come amiss for Mijhaar who can finally take the big prize he deserves in the Betfred Cambridgeshire at Newmarket today." The Times has a different policy, with today's action the main focus. Rob Wright leads off by saying: "Frankie Dettori has competition in his role as first jockey to Godolphin, but the Italian is riding as well as ever and can steer Man Of Action to victory in the Betfred Cambridgeshire at Newmarket today." Alan Lee, racing correspondent, writes in his Weekend Watch: "Such is the celebrity status of Frankel and his frail but formidable trainer that their every appearance carries the mass appeal of a farewell tour by musical legends. Even their rehearsals can draw a crowd and the Rowley Mile will be animated from 12.30pm this afternoon when Sir Henry Cecil puts his unbeaten star through the simulation of a proper race." Chris McGrath in The Independent also starts his article with Frankel: "For many at Newmarket today, even 35 thoroughbreds disputing one of the most venerable prizes in the calendar cannot begin to match the spectacle promised before racing has even begun." The Sun's Favourite pullout deals with the races, with lead tipster Templegate plumping for Bronze Angel in the Betfred Cambridgeshire, while Claude Duval's feature is about champion jockey-elect Richard Hughes. There are three paragraphs of editorial among the Daily Express's racing coverage, with tipster Bev Swingell going for Loving Spirit in the Betfred Cambridgeshire. FRANKEL ENJOYS ROWLEY MILE WORKOUT Henry Cecil made a rare racecourse appearance to witness Frankel, the world's highest-rated racehorse, work over nine furlongs on the Rowley Mile ahead of his next, and most likely final, start in the QIPCO Champion Stakes at Ascot on October 20. Cecil has employed similar tactics ahead of some of Frankel's previous 13 outings and an appreciative crowd gathered around the parade ring to see him stretch his legs before Tom Queally got on board. Frankel headed down to the starting point of the gallop and, as the action got underway, his stablemates Bullet Train and Specific Gravity led him at a decent pace. Specific Gravity dropped away three furlongs out and Frankel took over from his usual lead horse Bullet Train over two furlongs from home before extending away to cross the line some 12 lengths to the good. Cecil, who is currently battling ill health, said: "I am doing fine but I am getting tired and I need a good holiday. "He has had a good blow which is what we wanted as this is not D-Day. "We came here instead of running in the Moulin last weekend as I thought this would be a better idea. "I think he will be retired after Ascot but that is the Prince's decision." Queally said after dismounting: "That is the first time I have sat on him since winning at York and he seems as good as ever. "He felt fine and that is exactly what you would be looking for. "He has had a blow afterwards, which is what you would want, and he is 100% on target for  Ascot." Frankel was carrying his owner Khalid Abdulla's colours during the gallop, and afterwards his racing manager, Teddy Grimthorpe, said: "He has done everything that we hoped he would and Tom said that he was very pleased as Frankel sorted himself out and had a stretch. "He has had a bit of a blow which was the idea as we wanted to give him a good workout. "We wanted to do something to keep him up to speed and he has done it with the mininum of fuss and they have gone a good, solid pace from the off. "It was very kind of Newmarket to allow us to come and he has enjoyed himself. They were race-like conditions and it was a bit more than a usual workout as we wanted to press him a bit more and use more energy and strength. "It will also help his mental state and keep him a lean, mean, killing machine. "Frankel never disappoints and he comes out like that every day of the week. "He is no pussy cat and he does like to be the boss. He is a big, robust and domineering horse but mentally he is much more the finished article. "As for his retirement you never say never. Everyone has enjoyed Frankel and he has been truly wonderful for Prince Khalid. Retirement will be entirely his decision as he bred and has owned him and has made all the right calls so it is up to him as to when the curtain comes down." CONNECTIONS PLEASED AFTER FRANKEL'S GALLOP Frankel continued his preparation for the QIPCO Champion Stakes at Ascot on October 20, with a nine-furlong racecourse gallop on Newmarket's Rowley Mile today. The four-year-old teamed up with big-race rider Tom Queally for the first time since their seven-length romp in the Juddmonte International at York on August 22. The four-year-old was accompanied by regular work companion and pacemaker Bullet Train and Specific Gravity, owned by the Niarchos Family. The intention of the gallop was to replicate a race and Frankel's three-parts brother Bullet Train, under regular work rider Danny Dunnachie, set a solid gallop with Specific Gravity and Frankel's work rider Shane Fetherstonhaugh tracking him, while Frankel was anchored at the back of the trio. As they approached the final four furlongs, Specific Gravity dropped away and Frankel ranged up alongside Bullet Train before stretching clear in effortless fashion inside the final two furlongs. Queally said: "Frankel felt fine. That is exactly what we were looking for and he still has a bit of work to do before the Champion Stakes. The last time I rode him was at York so it's nice to get back on him." Cecil said: "Frankel has had a nice blow and he would have wanted to do as it's not D-Day yet. It was nice to come here as I don't think going to the Prix du Moulin would have achieved anything." Lord Grimthorpe,racing manager to Frankel's owner Khalid Abdulla, said: "Frankel has done everything we hoped he would do in the gallop. Tom (Queally) was pleased because once he sorted himself out, he really stretched and he has had a little blow. "The whole idea of this was to give him something a little bit extra so the gallop has achieved that and it's amazing to see all the people who have come to see him. "I think the gallop today will keep him up to speed which is the most important thing and he has done it with the minimum of fuss which is the most important thing. He has travelled like he normally does and he has just been his normal self. "It was a good solid pace from the word go and Danny (Dunnachie) rides Bullet Train regularly so he knows the sort of pace he needs to go. The gallop is also about keeping Frankel lean and mean and reminding him that he still has work to do. "The QIPCO Champion Stakes is likely to be Frankel's last race. I would never say never but it's Prince Khalid's (Abdulla) call and it will be his decision. Neither me or Sir Henry are going to suddenly come and say he is going for this, that and the other. "We have had three fantastic years with Frankel and if people haven't made up their minds about him then they haven't been watching the same races I have." INDUSTRY VIEW OF FRANKEL'S GALLOP Before racing on Betfred Cambridgeshire day, racegoers were given the treat of seeing the world's greatest racehorse, Frankel, in a gallop. An expectant crowd lined the parade ring as Frankel and his two stable companions were led around, before being taken out on to the course for a nine-furlong gallop. Frankel sat third of the group before pulling easily away from his stable companions to be greeted by a round of applause and cheers from the packed stands.          Among the excited gathering were industry professionals who gave their views on Frankel after the gallop. Andy Oliver, who saddles Sendmylovetorose in the Jaguar Cars Cheveley Park Stakes, said: "He looked fantastic, to see a horse of that calibre close up is worth it, no matter that you work with horses. It is always very interesting." Tom Goff, chairman of Blandford Bloodstock, said: "It is wonderful to see him. I think it is great that Prince Khalid (Abdulla), Teddy (Lord Grimthorpe) and Sir Henry (Cecil) have allowed the Newmarket crowd to catch one more glimpse of such a remarkable racehorse." Alan McCabe, trainer of Levitate in the Betfred Cambridgeshire, said: "He looks fantastic, obviously Sir Henry (Cecil) knew what he wanted to do today and his objective was achieved. Frankel strode away nicely, nothing to write home about - but he is just an awesome horse." Grant Pritchard-Gordon, former racing manager to Prince Khalid Abdulla and owner-founder of Badgers Bloodstock, said: "I just think it is the most amazing thing that probably more people turned up today to see his racecourse gallop than turned up yesterday for a Group One. "What we really need is a great racehorse and people flock to see them and that is what has happened today. "Frankel looked fantastic, he has as an extravagant action as ever and looked very well. It is great that Sir Henry (Cecil) and Mr Fetherstonhaugh (Frankel's usual work rider) settled him and that we have got a horse here that is in such a relaxed mood, looking so wonderful and pleasing so many people." The home-bred son of Galileo is a three-parts brother to 2010 Lingfield Derby Trial winner Bullet Train, a five-year-old who acts as his pacemaker these days, and a full-brother to three-year-old Noble Mission, winner of the Group Three Gordon Stakes at Glorious Goodwood in 2012. Frankel made an eye-catching winning debut when readily scoring in a mile maiden on Newmarket's July Course on August 13, 2010, as he beat subsequent dual Group One victor Nathaniel by half a length. He built on that promising start when quickening clear of two rivals for a bloodless 13-length victory in a seven-furlong conditions race at Doncaster's St Leger meeting on September 10 that year. The manner of his win saw Frankel propelled towards the head of the ante-post markets for both the 2011 QIPCO 2,000 Guineas and the Investec Derby and he showed himself as a juvenile of uncommon ability with a stunning success in the Group Two Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes over a mile at Ascot on September 25. 2010. Not content with the sedate pace, Tom Queally took up the running entering the straight and Frankel accelerated away from the field with ease to gain an almost effortless 10-length triumph over Klammer. His trainer then suggested that Frankel was the finest juvenile to have passed through his hands since Wollow in 1975 (who subsequently went on to win the 2,000 Guineas). Frankel's final start of 2010 came at Newmarket on October 16 in the Group One Dubai Dewhurst Stakes. A strong line-up for the very prestigious seven-furlong event also included dual Group One winner Dream Ahead and impressive Group Two victor Saamidd. Held up at the rear of the field, Frankel began to make smooth progress with three furlongs remaining and led before the furlong-pole, defeating Roderic O'Connor by two and a quarter lengths in good style. The runner-up strongly endorsed the form when winning a Group One in France afterwards. Frankel was the joint champion two-year-old in Europe on official ratings with Dream Ahead - rated 126 as well as being named the Two-Year-Old Colt of 2010 at the Cartier Racing Awards. Frankel reappeared in 2011 in the seven-furlong Group Three Greenham Stakes at Newbury on April 16, when he went to the front passing the three-furlong marker to record a comfortable four-length success over subsequent French Group One winner Excelebration. He started the shortest-priced favourite in the QIPCO 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket since Apalachee, third at 4/9 in 1974, going off at ½. He galloped his opponents into submission in the mile Classic and was over 10 lengths clear before halfway, winning most impressively by six lengths from Dubawi Gold with the field strung out. After this truly stunning performance, he headed to Royal Ascot for the Group One St James's Palace Stakes, also over a mile, on June 14 and extended his unbeaten run. But the victory was not delivered in the manner expected by his legion of admirers. Queally sent the colt to the lead with well over three furlongs remaining and Frankel was six lengths clear with a quarter of a mile to run. In reality the mile contest looked distinctly one-sided as Frankel made the running before powering clear for an imperious five-length success. Connections briefly toyed with the idea of stepping Frankel up to a mile and a quarter for either the Juddmonte International or the QIPCO British Champions Stakes, deciding on the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes Sponsored by QIPCO on QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot, October 15, when he cruised to a four-length victory over Excelebration. The World Thoroughbred Rankings for 2011 handed Frankel a rating of 136, 4lb clear of the outstanding Australian sprinter Black Caviar, making him officially the best horse in the world. He was Cartier Horse Of The Year and Cartier Three-Year-Old Colt in 2011. He began the current season at Newbury on May 19, when he sauntered to a facile five-length victory over his old rival Excelebration in the Group One JLT Locking Stakes at Newbury over a mile. Despite that deficit being the biggest in four meetings with Excelebration, Sir Henry Cecil was expecting a sharper performance at Royal Ascot and the four-year-old did not disappoint. Frankel faced 10 rivals including Excelebration in the Group One Queen Anne Stakes over the straight mile  - the opening race of the meeting - and produced a performance of the very highest quality, routing the field for an emphatic 11-length victory. In the aftermath of the performance, Timeform gave Frankel a rating of 147, the highest in the organisation's 64-year history, while the British Horseracing Authority increased Frankel's rating to 140, 1lb behind Khalid Abdulla's outstanding 1986 Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe winner Dancing Brave. He achieved another first  when capturing his second QIPCO Sussex Stakes at Goodwood by six lengths on August 1. Frankel ran beyond a mile for the first time when contesting the Group One Juddmonte International over an extended 10 furlongs at York on August 22. The nine-strong field included a host of top-class performers including St Nicholas Abbey, Farhh and Twice Over, but Frankel treated them with complete disdain, cruising into the lead two furlongs out before striding clear for a seven-length victory. He owns extensive racing and breeding interests in America, Britain, France and Ireland. He is a semi-retired businessman who, along with his four sons, presides over a huge conglomerate, the Mawarid Group, in Saudi Arabia and beyond. He developed a love for British racing during the 1960s when renting a house in London and, with the help of former trainer Humphrey Cottrill, had his first winner on May 14, 1979, when the Jeremy Tree-trained Charming Native scored at Windsor. Born in Taif, Saudi Arabia, in 1937, Abdulla has been one of the most successful owner-breeders in Europe over the past four decades and is the only current owner to have owned and bred the winners of all five British Classics. The first British Classic success came when Known Fact was awarded the 1980 QIPCO 2,000 Guineas on the disqualification of Nureyev. He has won the QIPCO 2,000 Guineas thrice more, thanks to Dancing Brave (1986), Zafonic (1993) and Frankel (2011) who promises to be best of them all, while in 1990 Quest For Fame gave him an initial Investec Derby triumph, followed by Commander In Chief in 1993 and Workforce in 2010. His only Ladbrokes St Leger victory came with the Andre Fabre-trained Toulon in 1991. Abdulla also races with great success in France, Ireland and the United States, where under the Juddmonte Farms banner he won a Triple Crown race in 2003 with Empire Maker in the Belmont Stakes. In 2003, Abdulla became champion owner in both Britain (78 winners) and France (58 winners), while he also finished third in the USA owners' championship. Sir Henry Cecil Sir Henry Cecil, who was awarded a knighthood for services to racing in the Queen's 2011 Birthday Honours List, has been Britain's champion trainer 10 times and is master of Warren Place Stables in Newmarket. Since taking out a licence in 1969, he has compiled a record of success that ranks him among the pantheon of training legends. He has won 36 European Classics, including 25 in Britain, collected over 400 Pattern successes and saddled well over 3,000 individual winners. He is also the most successful trainer at Royal Ascot, having won 75 races at the meeting. Henry Richard Amherst Cecil was born in Aberdeen on January 11, 1943, 10 minutes before his twin brother David, with whom he enjoyed a close bond. His father, Captain Henry Cecil of the Welsh Guards, brother of the third Baron Amherst of Hackney, was killed in action in North Africa some two weeks prior to the birth. Henry's widowed mother Rohays subsequently married royal trainer Sir Cecil Boyd-Rochfort and moved her brood of four boys to Freemason Lodge from the family farm near Newmarket. His formative years at Freemason Lodge stables, along with his brothers Bow, James, David and later Arthur, infused a desire to pursue a life in racing. This was undoubtedly detrimental to any potential academic distractions that may have robbed the sport of one of its most intuitive talents. In his book, On The Level, published in 1983, Cecil recalls at the age of seven being sent to prep school at Sunningdale where, with his twin David, he "went straight to the bottom form and stayed there". He failed to get into Eton and spent the remainder of his school life at Canford School in Dorset, which he left with 10 O-Levels, before embarking on a high-spirited year at Cirencester's Royal Agricultural College, where he and David "studied drinking and gambling", before leaving without sitting any exams. Henry was destined for a career in stud management until accepting the role of assistant to his step-father in 1964. Two years later he married Julie Murless, daughter of the great trainer Sir Noel Murless. Boyd-Rochfort, the man he called Uncle Cecil, retired at the end of the 1968 Flat season, at which point Henry took over the reins at Freemason Lodge. He did not exactly hit the ground running and it was two months before he sighted the winner's enclosure. His initial victory as a licensed trainer came on May 17, 1969, when Celestial Cloud was the short-head winner of an amateur riders' event at Ripon. That success came after a piece of anxious advice from his then father-in-law. After watching the Cecil string work, Sir Noel Murless, never one to interfere, awkwardly declared: "Your horses are galloping like a lot of old gentlemen. You must make them work." Henry gratefully heeded the advice and big-race glory soon followed with Wolver Hollow in the 1969 Eclipse. A move to Marriott Stables brought his first European Classic, courtesy of Cloonagh in the 1973 Irish 1,000 Guineas. Bolkonski's win in the 1975 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket set the ball rolling in Britain. Wollow's 2,000 Guineas victory a year later came in Henry's first season training at Warren Place, formerly the yard of his father-in-law, and heralded an era of success that has etched his name indelibly in the annals of racing greatness. As the 1980s dawned, the Henry Cecil legend took shape. Supported by Julie Cecil, head man Paddy Rudkin, travelling head man George Winsor and others, he reigned supreme. He ended the 1979 season as champion trainer with a 20th century record of 128 wins to his name. That was his third title in four seasons, in a year that saw One In A Million land the QIPCO 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket and Le Moss and Kris emerge as champions. The following decade brought five more training titles, while eight individual English Classic winners, including the Derby heroes Slip Anchor (1985) and Reference Point (1987), and the brilliant fillies' Triple Crown scorer Oh So Sharp (1985), were complemented by champions such as Ardross, Diesis, Indian Skimmer and Old Vic. In 1985, the year of Slip Anchor and Oh So Sharp, Henry became the first trainer in history to pass the £1-million mark in prize money. The 1987 season brought an even more phenomenal feat as Warren Place runners captured 180 races, smashing John Day's 1867 record of 146. Success continued throughout the next decade with a further clutch of Classic triumphs including four Oaks wins in five years with Lady Carla (1996), Reams Of Verse (1997), Ramruma (1999) and Love Divine (2000). He produced the brilliant Bosra Sham to be champion filly, nursing her fragile feet with the patience and care with which he is renowned, while enjoying two further successes in the Derby with Commander In Chief (1993) and Oath (1999). The latter's owner, the late Prince Ahmed Salman, summed up the feeling of many after Oath's triumph when he said, "winning Classics is easy. You just buy a horse and send it to Henry Cecil". The years have seen many of his owner-breeders pass away, while the loss of Sheikh Mohammed's patronage in 1995 was an undoubted blow. The numbers housed at Warren Place fell dramatically from a peak of near 200, so that by midway through the decade 2000 to 2010 Henry Cecil was no longer seen as a force in the contests that mattered. Owners deserted him, though notably Khalid Abdulla and the Niarchos Family remained loyal. The family standard, run up the flag pole after each Group One win, gathered dust for over six years after Beat Hollow's Grand Prix de Paris win in 2000. In 2006, however, a corner was turned as Multidimensional gave Henry his first Pattern success in four years. October of that year marked a return to the top table as the Khalid Abdulla-owned Passage Of Time captured the Group One Criterium de Saint-Cloud. Classic success made a welcome return to Warren Place in 2007 when Light Shift, owned by the Niarchos Family, clinched an emotional success in the Investec Oaks under Ted Durcan, while Midday went close to handing the stable a ninth victory in the premier fillies' Classic when a close runner-up to Sariska in 2009. The Khalid Abdulla-owned filly subsequently proved a bona fide superstar, with an unprecedented three victories in the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood in 2009, 2010 and 2011 as well as the Yorkshire Oaks and Prix Vermeille in 2010. She also provided Henry with a first success at the Breeders' Cup when landing the 2009 Filly & Mare Turf at Santa Anita. Twice Over has also been a standard bearer for Warren Place over the past few seasons, taking the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes at Newmarket in 2009 and 2010 as well as the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown in 2010 and York's Juddmonte International in 2011. The unbeaten Frankel is the latest superstar on the block, having won 13 races, nine of which have come at Group One level (the Dewhurst Stakes, the QIPCO 2000 Guineas, the St James' Palace Stakes, the QIPCO Sussex Stakes (2011 & 2012), the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes sponsored by QIPCO, the JLT Lockinge Stakes, the Queen Anne Stakes and Juddmonte International). He is rated the top horse in the world and Sir Henry believes he is the best he has ever trained. As well as housing equine superstars, Warren Place was also the haunt of champion jockeys, with Joe Mercer, Lester Piggott, Steve Cauthen, Pat Eddery and later Kieren Fallon each doing their bit and enjoying the spoils of the master trainer's meticulously-planned campaigns. Nowadays, the talented young Irishman Tom Queally is the jockey proving his worth atop Cecil-trained contenders. The record books do not lie and Sir Henry Cecil rewrote them as he cultivated and nurtured a string of champions. He is a trainer of great flair - a gifted horseman with an exceptional ability in assessing a horse, and possesses a rare instinctive genius that enables him to appreciate potential far earlier than most. He is also the focus of great fascination, particularly among the media - a champion trainer with a penchant for gardening and fine clothes. He has fought cancer over the last few years and married Jane McKeown, his third wife, in 2008. Tom Queally Tom Queally, born on October 8, 1984, has come a long way since riding his first winner on the John Roche-trained Larifaari at Clonmel on April 13, 2000, when 15. He was crowned Ireland's champion apprentice the same season. From Dungarvan in County Waterford, where his father Declan combines farming with a small training operation, Tom was out hunting on his pony by the age of seven. After a spell showjumping, he was a leading figure on the pony racing circuit by the age of 13 and was apprenticed to trainer Pat Flynn two years later. The apprenticeship was terminated when Queally's parents insisted he finish his leaving certificate at school. At the end of a quiet 2002, when apprenticed to his father, he moved to Aidan O'Brien at Ballydoyle, winning the following year's Group Three Ballysax Stakes on Balestrini. With the help of owner/trainer Barney Curley, he moved to Britain in 2004 and joined David Loder's Newmarket stable, becoming British champion apprentice that year. He won the 2008 Group Three Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom aboard Lady Gloria and is now attached to Sir Henry Cecil's Warren Place stable. Since his move to Cecil's yard, he has recorded significant victories on Midday, who finished runner-up in the 2009 Investec Oaks before going on to claim the Group One Nassau Stakes at Goodwood (2009, 2010 and 2011), the Darley Yorkshire Oaks (2010), Qatar Prix Vermeille (2010) and  the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (2009). Twice Over has given him success in the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes (2009 and 2010), and the Coral-Eclipse Stakes (2010). "It is all about Chil the Kite though, the punters are flying in for him."         CAMBRIDGESHIRE FESTIVAL PLAYS HOST TO SOME IMPRESSIVE JUVENILES AND ESTABLISHED STARS  The first two days of the Cambridgeshire Festival at Newmarket have been headlined by a number of impressive two-year-olds, who look sure to have an impact on next year's Classics.  Certify, trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni, extended her unbeaten record to four with an emphatic victory in the Group One Shadwell Fillies' Mile yesterday. The daughter of Elusive Quality was held up towards the rear by Mickael Barzalona but came through strongly for an impressive four and a half length success. This was Godolphin's third consecutive victory in the Shadwell Fillies Mile following on from Lyric Of Light and White Moonstone. Certify is now as short as 6/1 favourite with BetVictor for next year's QIPCO 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.  Al Zarooni said: "Certify was a bit excited before the race and that is not normal for her. It is her fourth run of the year and I would prefer to put her away for next season. I think she will stay further than a mile but the QIPCO 1000 Guineas will be her first target."  Ralph Beckett also unleashed a smart juvenile filly in yesterday's opening Group Three Sakhee Oh So Sharp Stakes over seven furlongs. Waterway Run, who had won a York nursery by three and a quarter lengths on September 9, showed a tenacious attitude under Jim Crowley to get the better of Light Up My Life by half a length.  Beckett said: "She will go straight for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies' Turf (Santa Anita, USA, November 2, US$1 million) because she was nominated for it as a foal and that seems the next logical step."  Yesterday's eight-race card also featured the Group Two Nayef Joel Stakes over a mile, which is part of the QIPCO British Champions Series. Penitent continued to endorse David O'Meara's training abilities with a hard-fought front-running success under Daniel Tudhope to score by a neck. The six-year-old had his first run for O'Meara in April and has now bagged two Group Twos and a Listed race in six starts this season.  O'Meara said: "He's been a grand horse to win a Listed and a Group race at the beginning of the season and then come back and win another one at the end of the season."  The opening day of the Betfred Cambridgeshire meeting on Thursday saw Richard Hannon's highly-regarded two-year-old Havana Gold make it four wins from five starts in the feature Group Three Somerville Tattersall Stakes over seven furlongs. The son of Teofilo picked up stylishly under Richard Hughes for a comfortable length and a half victory and is now as short as 20/1 with Paddy Power for next season's QIPCO 2000 Guineas.  Assistant trainer Richard Hannon Jnr said: "He will be better over a mile and is a nice horse for next year."    Sir Michael Stoute unleashed a potential Investec Derby prospect when Telescope was a taking winner of the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden over mile. The son of Galileo travelled strongly for Richard Hughes before drawing away in eye-catching fashion for a two and a quarter length success. He is now as short as 12/1 with Stan James to give his trainer a sixth victory in the Epsom Classic.  Stoute said: "Telescope has run two very promising races and as he's out of a Darshaan mare by Galileo, so he should get further. I don't know if you'll see him again this year. He's in the Racing Post Trophy, but I wouldn't commit myself to that."  Another local trainer John Gosden captured a brace of Listed races on the opening day, with Gallipot quickening smartly to win the Princess Royal Richard Hambro Stakes and Caucus staying on dourly to win the Jockey Club Rose Bowl Stakes over two miles. "I thought it was a sensible pace for the first half of the race and then we really picked up. William Haggas' filly has answered every call from a Ripon maiden win, to a Listed Newbury event and then the Lowther Stakes on her previous outing, when she proved herself over the six furlongs. Murtagh bounced the game filly out from stall one on the far side and she never saw another rival and the 4/1 chance collected by one length. Haggas said: "When you get a two-year-old filly you want to win the Lowther and the Cheveley Park and she has done both - I could not say enough about her. "Her coat has gone but she can run and she is a tough and genuine filly. "I want to enjoy the moment but we will give the 1000 Guineas consideration. Why not? "I didn't think she would stay six furlongs but she looked as though she was going on again in the Lowther and that there was more to come. Who knows if she will stay a mile but we will give the Guineas a shot." Murtagh added: "It was very similar to the race at York. She travelled well down the rail on her own, which she didn't seem to mind, and she battled well when Kieren (Fallon on Baileys Jubilee) came to me. She has done it well.     "I was drawn in stall one, so I just stayed straight. She was on the rail and she wasn't getting any hassle, so she was kind of flowing for the first three or four furlongs. "When I got to the three-marker, I thought that we would take a bit of catching because she had loads left in reserve. Kieren got to me but my filly wasn't for passing today. "She is pretty fast but maybe she will mature over the winter. You just don't know and it's a quick mile here, so I think that she deserves her chance in the Guineas. The Cheveley Park is a great race and has a great record for the Guineas. She can always come back in trip if she doesn't stay but the 1000 Guineas is a big race." Ed McMahon, who trains the progressive Camacho filly, said afterwards: "I knew we would get every yard of the trip after her run at Salisbury (where she won a Listed race over six furlongs on September 6). The winner just injected a bit of pace going into the dip and I am not saying Winning Express was caught flat but she tends to just switch off. Franny (Norton, jockey) said she was doing her best work at the end and with another twenty yards she would have got there. We could be an unlucky loser. "We will wait and see for next year, I am not sure her breeding would say she would get a mile but she will certainly get seven. That is it for this year and we will wait and see next year." Mark Johnston, trainer of third-placed Baileys Jubilee, said: "I am very pleased with Baileys Jubilee. I thought she was going to win as she hit the front like a winner. Kieren (Fallon) was very bullish about her and said that the draw and going round that way didn't help. "My first impression was that she didn't stay and Kieren in the past has said she doesn't stay, but today he said she switched off lovely once he got her behind one. "She won't run again this season and will go straight for the QIPCO 1000 Guineas next year."        CAMBRIDGESHIRE FESTIVAL, NEWMARKET, 2012 RACENEWS RACECOURSE SERVICE BETFRED CAMBRIDGESHIRE DAY, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 Third race: The Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes Winning quotes SIYOUMA STRIKES FOR FRANCE   French handler Francois Doumen gained his first top level success on the Flat in Britain when Siyouma won the Group One Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes. It was a fourth consecutive win for French-trained horses, following on from Rodolphe Collet's three wins with Sahpresa. Siyouma raced prominently under Gerald Mosse before taking the lead a furlong from home and kept on strongly for a three quarters of a length success. Elusive Kate ran a good race to be second after stumbling coming out the stalls and Laugh Out Loud held on for third after making the running. Doumen said: "I was worried about the ground for Siyouma because she is better on softer ground - every time she works on soft ground she absolutely flies. "She has been improving throughout the season and when she ran in the Falmouth Stakes in July she was still quite immature as she didn't run much as a three-year-old. "She is the most satisfactory thing in the world. She is easy to train - she has an easy temperament and is very calm. Gerald (Mosse) said she won with something in hand and nobody will be able to criticise his ride today. "As she has won easily, she could go for the E P Taylor Stakes at Woodbine in two weeks' time - we could get some cut in the ground there. There is also Japan and Hong Kong to consider - the fact she has won on fast ground today reassures me that we can go there. Gerald Mosse added: "She was very well today and she worked very well last week, so we were pretty confident before we came. "I was expecting the ground to be a bit softer, which would have helped, but we have been lucky. I had a good pace in front of me and I would say that the race was pretty clear for everyone. She picked up and really went to the line with a lot of potential. "She is definitely better over a mile - not because she won today but I have already been saying it to the trainer for a long time. She can go to a mile and a quarter, but a mile is definitely the best for her." Third race: The Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes Placed quotes ELUSIVE SHOWS HER BRAVERY The ever consistent Elusive Kate showed her bravery when coming three-quarters-of-a-length second to Siyouma in the Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes. Her trainer, John Gosden, attempted to remove the off-fore shoe in the winner's enclosure when she came back in before calling for the racecourse farrier to take it off. The foot was then bandaged and she was led off to the unsaddling boxes for further inspection by her lad and trainer. William Buick, who rode her, said: "She stumbled out of the stalls and her shoe came loose and that has cost her the race I think." Mick Channon, who trained the third-placed Laugh Out Loud, commented after the race: "I am obviously delighted, she has been a high class filly all year. We gave her a break after Ascot and she ran a cracker in Ireland and she has run another one today. "Obviously, you want to win but we are very pleased. It is difficult to make all especially on a straight track like here. I would have thought we will have a chat with the owners as where we go next. She is entered in the Dubai Challenge Stakes (Group Two, October 13) back here." CAMBRIDGESHIRE FESTIVAL, NEWMARKET, 2012 RACENEWS RACECOURSE SERVICE BETFRED CAMBRIDGESHIRE DAY, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 Fourth race: The Betfred Cambridgeshire Winner quote BRONZE TAKES GOLD IN CAMBRIDESHIRE Marcus Tregoning claimed the biggest prize of his season so far as Bronze Angel scored in the Betfred Cambridgeshire, with stablemate Boom Or Bust also in the frame in third place. Tregoning had given the three-year-old a break since finishing third in the Britannia at Royal Ascot, and William Buick's mount scraped in to the field as the final runner to make the cut. The 9/1 chance raced in the stands' side group and came through late to register success by three-quarters of a length. The winning trainer said: "I looked at the programme book and this looked to be his race and he only scraped in by one. There is nothing you can do when you are waiting to see if a horse gets in a race but thankfully he did and I am very pleased. "I am thrilled for Lady Tennant as she has been a great supporter of mine, even from when I first started training. "It is very exciting to have pulled it off, stunning really. We gave him a break as he had been busy early in the year and he has come on great. "I am pleased for the whole team at home as it hasn't been the best of years but we have done well with what we have got. This is our Group One! "Sheikh Hamdan owns the yard and it is the same team that looked after Nashwan, Dayjur, Sir Percy and all of those good horses. We needed a bit of a boost and we got one today so we are thrilled." He added of Boom Or Bust: "He only ran last week so this was somewhat of an afterthought, but the ground was right and he took his chance. He won the race over on the far side so I am very pleased." Buick said: "It's a real tough race to win. I thought that he had a very good chance when I looked this morning but it's very hard because there are so many runners and you can make a case for so many of them. "They split into three groups and I stayed where I was. There weren't that many runners there so I was just lucky that the horses took me far enough because he doesn't like to be in front too soon. He has won really well and you could say that he was well in. "He was looking for a bit of company in the end and I wanted him to race against something as well. I am sure that he has got a big future." Fourth race: The Betfred Cambridgeshire Placed quotes MULL PLEASES JANE Mull Of Killough, won his battle coming up the far side of the course, after the field had split into three, but just failed to take the overall prize when finishing three-quarters-of-a-length second to Bronze Angel, in the Betfred Cambridgeshire. Jane Chapple-Hyam, who trains the 33/1 chance in Newmarket, said afterwards: "I was worried about the pace but he settled nicely on the far side, and second isn't too bad. He looked to me, like I always thought, that he could be a mile and a quarter horse. I am just pleased that he has run well on what he has shown at home. "I might wrap him up and put him away until the Winter Derby at Lingfield. He has won there before, but you know me, I may just keep him running. There might be a race in France. A little conditions race, maybe one on those all weather tracks. As long as he comes out of the race alright - though he looks fine now. It is very good prize money for one of those conditions races." Joseph O'Brien, rider of the six-year-old Mull Of Kintyre gelding, added: "He ran a blinder - he was just a bit unlucky to be run out of it in the last hundred yards." William Carson, rider of the 50/1 fourth for trainer Michael Appleby, said: "Bancnuanaheireann has run a cracker and is on an upward curve. He is very lightly raced and is a massive horse. "He took me there the whole way and was doing it nicely. All he did is keep going and if the ground was a bit slower, I'm not saying I would have won, but it would have helped me a bit by slowing the race down. "He would tank through anything and he just keeps going and galloping. "You've got to go where the races are but I would go a mile and a quarter before I went a mile, although nine furlongs on slow ground would probably be ideal for him - but how many of those races are there at this level." The daughter of Lucky Story, ridden by Richard Kingscote, battled on gamely inside the final furlong to score by three quarters of a length from Fleeting Smile, with a neck back to Godolphin's Ghanaian. Portman said: "We have had this race in mind for a long time for Annecdote. We ran her at Doncaster last time over six and a half furlongs and that was a little bit too sharp for her. "She has been quite well handicapped for a while because she has shown some good form in her maidens behind the likes of Maureen and a few others. I trained the half-brother who won first time out but he wasn't anything like as nice as her. "I'm not sure if we will run her again this year as I think she will be better next year -it would be nice to think she could make up into a black-type filly and she will get a mile next year." Richard Hannon, trainer of the Fleeting Smile, said: "She ran really well and I think we will get a mile with her. We will leave her till next year now." Paul Hanagan, rider of Fleeting Smile, said: "I was really pleased with her - she went down fighting. She really grinded it out to the line and has a great temperament. The 10/1 chance was ultra-game out in front and kept on finding to collect by four and a half lengths. Johnston said: "I was concerned about the draw but it didn't matter in the end and he has won well. "He has entries later in the week and will no doubt turn out again somewhere.
