CHELTENHAM RACECOURSE ANNOUNCES RURAL TV PRESENTER ADAM HENSON AS LADIES DAY AMBASSADOR FOR 2013



Cheltenham Racecourse has announced that popular countryside TV presenter and local farmer Adam Henson will be the Official Ladies Day Ambassador for The Festival in 2013.  Ladies Day will take place on Wednesday, March 13, the third day of the four day Festival.

new cheltenham logoAdam has spent his life in the countryside having been born and bred in the Cotswolds and bringsfarming to the public on a Sunday night by presenting to millions from his tenanted farm in the Cotswolds.  For many years Adam, along with his father Joe Henson, has nurtured and developed Cotswold Farm Park, showcasing the best of British farming and rare breed animals such as Belted Galloway cattle, Cotswold sheep and Golden Guernsey goats.  Adam is passionate about the British countryside and wants to share his enjoyment with as many people as possible.

Talking about his involvement with Cheltenham Racecourse Adam said: "I am thrilled to be working with Cheltenham for the upcoming season and to be endorsing Ladies Day at The Festival in 2013. As someone who really enjoys a day at the races, I want to encourage both women and men to attend The Festival and see for themselves what a great day out a visit to Cheltenham Racecourse really is."

"Ladies Day at Cheltenham has grown over the past few years to become a great sporting social event," Adam continued. "It's a great day to get together with friends, put on your best racing outfits and soak up the truly unique atmosphere at The Festival".

Ladies Day, at The Festival, was launched in 2007 and grows in popularity year on year with women coming from far and wide to enjoy the unique atmosphere and take part in the highly coveted Fashion Awards which attract hundreds of participants.

The new season at Cheltenham continues with the three-day Open Meeting that takes place from Friday, November 16to Sunday, November 18, when a selection of animals from Cotswold Farm Park will be on view. Visit the petting farm, situated not far from the 80 trade stands in the shopping village, to experience a true taste of the countryside. Kids and grown-ups can stroke and hold the animals as well as enjoying a range of children's activities including face painting and a soft play area.

Adam himself will be at the course on Sunday, November 18, to talk to racegoers about his farm and his animals. Families can enjoy a Racing Roast on Open Sunday, featuring the famous Cheltenham dinosaur roast beef! Children under 5 years of age eat for free and those aged between 5 and 12 eat for only £25. The three-day Open meeting gets underway with Countryside Day on Friday, November 16 followed by Paddy Power Gold Cup day on Saturday, November 17. On all three days, under 18's are admitted free.
