FLAWLESS BEAUTY IMPROVING AHEAD OF BOSRA SHAM TEST

The £23,000 Listed EBF Express Cafes Bosra Sham Fillies' Stakes (1.40pm) is the highlight on a competitive seven-race card at Newmarket tomorrow, Friday, November 2, which gets underway at 12.40pm.

The six-furlong contest will see 17 two-year-olds go to post headed by Group One Jaguar Cars Cheveley Park Stakes fifth Jillnextdoor and David Brown's Group Two Jaguar Cars Lowther Stakes fifth Pearl Sea.

Local handler Hugo Palmer will saddle Flawless Beauty, who scored by half a length at the fourth time of asking in a six furlong maiden at Kempton on Polytrack on October 17. After running a good race to be second on debut at Ascot, she finished fourth at Newmarket before coming home third on soft ground at Pontefract.

The daughter of Excellent Art is a half-sister to last season's Grade One Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf hero Wrote and from the further family of Sadler's Wells and Nureyev.

Palmer said: "Flawless Beauty has come out of her win at Kempton really well. She seems to have improved stacks for it and, with fillies at this time of year, you have to have a go at these sort of races.

"There were valid excuses for her defeats at Newmarket and Pontefract. We don't have to make the running, but if nothing does then one of Michael Hills' biggest talents is getting his fractions right at Newmarket.

"We have always thought she was a bit above average and although we have a bit to find on ratings, the winner of the Radley Stakes (Need You Now at Newbury on October 27) was rated 65.

"I don't know what sort of filly she will be next year. She is by a son of Pivotal out of a Green Desert mare, so is entitled to be fast but at the same time Excellent Art developed into one of the leading milers in Europe.

"She looks more like a miler and she continues to improve. If she ran into a place on Friday, we would probably aim her towards one of those Guineas trials in the spring and I'm not saying she could win one of those but it would give us an idea of where to go with her."

Other notable contenders include Listed ACD Projects Supporting The Animal Health Trust Empress Stakes winner City Image, who is one of four runners for trainer Richard Hannon, and Deauville Listed scorer Faithfilly, trained by Ed Walker.
