12.55pm £14,000 32 Red
Conditions Stakes, 7f, Polytrack, Win & You're In.
Complicit, the winner of the
seven-furlong 32Red Conditions Stakes at Lingfield Park today, Saturday,
November 23 in course record time, gained a guaranteed free place for next
year's All-Weather Championships Finals Day.
The two-year-old son of
Captain Rio, trained by Paul Cole and ridden by Graham Lee, came with a
smooth run to go past the front-running Evens favourite Sir Robert Cheval well
inside the final furlong in the fifth of the 16 Win & You're In races for
All-Weather Championship Finals Day.
The colt can now take part
in the £150,000 32Red.com Three-Year-Old Final, also over seven furlongs on
Polytrack at Lingfield Park, on Good Friday, April 18, 2014.
Complicit, who has
overcome stalls' problems, was having his fourth run, after finishing sixth in a
Deauville, France, Listed race on his June 27 debut, landing a five-furlong
maiden at Ripon on July 20 and previously being seen out when second in a
decent six-furlong conditions race at Salisbury on October 2.
Today the 9/2 chance beat
Sir Robert Cheval by a length, with a further four and a half lengths back to
the third Ifrika, in a new course record time for a two-year-old of 1m 22.67s
for the seven furlongs on Polytrack at Lingfield Park. The previous record time
was 1m 23.88s, set in October, 2008.
Cole commented: "He
ran at Deauville first time out and would not go in the stalls initially and
Christophe Soumillon go at bit annoyed at him. Complicit finished sixth and we
thought a bit of him because that was a Listed race.
"Then we have had this
stalls' problem, but we seem to have got the better of that and he was as good
as gold today. Oliver (his son and assistant) and the team at home have done a
very good job with Complicit. I would have bet on him going in today.
"He got the trip well
and will probably get another furlong. He is a jolly nice horse and probably
improving. He has grown a lot in the last couple of months.
"At Salisbury, we
were there really to see if we could get him started and we perhaps did not
attack the race as much as we should have done. We did get him started and he
has refused again (to go in the stalls).
"Anyway, we are on
track now and have cracked the problems - onwards and forwards.
"He is a conditions
race in Deauville in a fortnight or so time and I would be keen to go for the
final, after consulting the owner, as it is a nice race to aim for."

In contest for the All-Weather Champions Finals Day is at Lingfield Park on
