A field of six goes for
the £14,000 32Red Conditions Stakes (12.55pm) at Lingfield Park on Saturday,
November 23., with the winner qualifying immediately for the new All-Weather
Championships Finals Day.
The seven-furlong contest
is the fifth of 16 Win & You're In races for the All-Weather Championship
Finals Day, with the victorious horse being guaranteed a place with free entry
in the £150,000 32Red.com Three-Year-Old Final, also run over seven furlongs on
Polytrack at Lingfield Park, on Good Friday, April 18, 2014.
Sir Robert Cheval created a very favourable
impression when successful in a maiden over the same course and distance
on November 13, scoring easily by three and a half lengths.
On his only other start,
the two-year-old son of Green Desert, trained in Newmarket by Marco Botti,
finished third over six furlongs on soft turf at Yarmouth on October 22.
Botti explained today:
"Sir Robert Cheval is in good form and has come out of his win at
Lingfield well.
"The ground was
against him on his debut at Yarmouth but he couldn't have done it any easier at
Lingfield. It's difficult to assess the strength of these All-Weather maidens
at this time of year, but he had been working well at home and quickened up
nicely.
"I didn't think he
had a hard race and, although he is not a horse we want to be running through
the winter, if he wins on Saturday he will be qualified for the final on Good
Friday. Saturday's race is another step up but I think he is up to it.
"Whatever happens
though, we will put him away for next year because we think he is a nice horse
and there should be plenty of improvement to come."
Stable jockey Martin
Harley takes the ride again. Also set to line up on Saturday is Ben Hall
(John Gosden/Robert Havlin), who has shown a good level of form this year
including when a close seventh in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal
Ascot and when sixth, beaten just over three lengths, in the Group Two Richmond
Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.
Complicit (Paul Cole/Graham Lee)
landed a maiden at Ripon in July and was last seen out when second in a decent
conditions race at Salisbury on October 2. Yagheer (Roger Varian/Andrea
Atzeni) and Ifrika (Clive Brittain/Luke Morris) are both maidens but
have posted promising efforts, while the field is completed by the filly
Sandsman's Girl (James Given/Dale Swift).
An eight-race All-Weather
programme at Lingfield Park on Saturday runs from 11.50am through to 3.45pm.
After Saturday, the next
Win & You're In contest for the All-Weather Champions Finals Day is at
Lingfield Park on January 11, 2014.
As well as by taking a Win
& You're In race, horses qualify for the six championship contests on
All-Weather Championships Finals Day by running in a minimum of three races at
Britain's All-Weather tracks - three owned by ARC, Lingfield Park, Southwell
and Wolverhampton, and The Jockey Club's Kempton Park - between October 26 and
April 12.
