Al Rashidiya and Cape Verdi Promise First-Class Racing
Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL) returns to Meydan Racecourse on Thursday January 20 2014 for a quality international card worth US$955,000 across six races, including the featured Group 2 Al Rashidiya and Cape Verdi contests.
DUBAL, the country’s largest primary aluminum producer and an industry leader in Dubai, is a regular feature of the Dubai World Cup Carnival and annually lends its name to one Racing at Meydan meeting and one Dubai World Cup Carnival meeting. This week DUBAL sponsors the 1800m Al Rashidiya as well as the 1600m Cape Verdi, a race for fillies and mares. Both contests carry prize money of $200,000.

DUBAL operates one of the world’s largest single-site primary aluminium smelters (>1 million tpa). High quality products are made in three main forms: foundry alloy; extrusion billet; and high purity. More than 300 customers are served in at least 57 countries, predominantly in Asia, Europe, the MENA region and the Americas. Approximately 3,800 people are employed by DUBAL, over 16 per cent being UAE Nationals. DUBAL also owns investments in bauxite/alumina projects; and a stake in a petroleum coke calciner plant in China.

DUBAL’s proprietary, in-house developed reduction cell technologies deliver best-in-class performance standards. DX Technology is operational in a 40-cell potline at DUBAL and EMAL Phase I (756 cells). DX+ Technology has been licensed to EMAL Phase II (444 cells), which is currently being energised.
