Thoroughbred Racing Commentary Launches New Online Publication

Thoroughbred Racing Commentary (TRC) today unveiled a  new online publication designed to promote best practices and stimulate dialogue among Thoroughbred industry constituents on a globalscale.

TRC, which makes its online home at http://thoroughbredracing.com/ will address important industry topics in eight subject categories: Racing, Racecourses, Breeding, Sales, Regulatory & Wagering, Owners & Trainers, Technology, and Aftercare.

It promises incisive commentary and analysis of racing issues worldwide, with the UK-based contributors including Greg Wood of The Guardian, James Willoughby, Julian Muscat, and Sean Magee, with Irish Sunday Times chief racing writer Donn McLean and author and broadcaster Lissa Oliver heading up the Irish team.

"Having worked in industry leadership roles at the Daily Racing Form and at The New York Racing Association, Inc., it is crystal clear to me that we need international engagement and collaboration to take advantage of best practices from around the globe. When I attended the 2011 International Federation of Horseracing Authorities conference, the desire to share information and help reform the industry was palpable, however there was no vehicle to continue that dialogue. That's why we created TRC," said founder and publisher Charles Hayward.

TRC is headquartered in New York, where Hayward is based along with editor Ashley Herriman and additional marketing and editorial colleagues. In London, TRC employs former Racing Post editor-in-chief Chris Smith, who sources articles primarily from Ireland, the UK, and Europe. Paul Haigh, award-winning international racing journalist, is located in Malaysia and writes as well as sources and edits articles from throughout Australasia. TRC's contributors are journalists and experts based around the world.

"Technology has helped create an increasingly tightly-linked world, and the model we've created at TRC unites a global network of talented, passionate journalists and industry experts," said Herriman. "Their diverse perspectives will set our content apart and focus attention on issues that affect racing everywhere."

Smith added: "Make no mistake, we are all on a mission at Thoroughbred Racing Commentary. By laying bare the good, the bad and the ugly among practices, procedures, incidents and events throughout the world of horseracing, we believe we are providing a unique global service that can only improve and enrich an already marvellously endowed sport and multi-billion-dollar industry."

The site will be updated regularly with a broad range of content and boasts a detailed international calendar and exhaustive listing of racing industry resources. The site's content will be supported by advertising and sponsorship programs.
