Doncaster Racecourse, home of the Ladbrokes St Leger Festival, today announces a new sponsorship deal with One Call Insurance. The company, which is based locally in Doncaster itself, will lend its name to the newly-upgraded Listed race which will now be entitled the One Call Insurance Flying Scotsman Stakes.
One Call Insurance are no strangers to sponsorship at Doncaster Racecourse, previously backing the prestigious Group Two Champagne Stakes at the Ladbrokes St Leger Festival for two years.
The Listed One Call Insurance Flying Scotsman Stakes takes place on a top-quality card on the Friday of the St Leger Festival, Doncaster Cup Day, September 13.
Frankel, the greatest horse since the establishment of the World Thoroughbred Racehorse Rankings, won the race in 2010 on his second racecourse start before going on to rack up an incredible unbeaten career of 14 victories. The race has been upgraded to Listed status for the 2013 running.
Not only has the race been upgraded in status but it has also been re-named in honour of the Flying Scotsman. This world-famous and iconic steam engine is synonymous with Doncaster. The locomotive began its life in the town's works in 1923. This year sees the 90-year anniversary of its emergence from the Doncaster works.

The Ladbrokes St Leger Festival runs from Wednesday, September 11 to Saturday, September 14, 2013. The Ladbrokes St Leger - the final Classic of the season - is the showpiece event and is complemented by many quality feature races.
