Irish-trained horses have
made a huge impact over the first two days of Royal Ascot 2013, achieving six
successes. There were four on the first day - Declaration Of War (Aidan
O'Brien) in the Queen Anne Stakes, Sole Power (Edward Lynam) in the King's
Stand Stakes, Dawn Approach (Jim Bolger) in the St James's Palace Stakes and
War Command (Aidan O'Brien) in the Coventry Stakes. This was followed by two
more yesterday - Gale Force Ten (Aidan O'Brien) in the Jersey Stakes and Duntle
(David Wachman) in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes.
The highest number of
Irish winners at any Royal Ascot since 1960 has been eight in both 2012 and
2008.
