Betfred Cambridgeshire
hero Bronze Angel could return to Newmarket for the £55,000 Group Three
Darley Stakes (5.15pm) over nine furlongs on Dubai Future Champions Day this
Saturday, October 13.
The progressive
three-year-old returned from a three-month break to land the prestigious
heritage handicap, also over nine furlongs, by a cosy three quarters of a
length under William Buick at Newmarket on September 29.
The son of Dark Angel
had previously caught the eye when flashing home to take third from a poor draw
in the Britannia Handicap at Royal Ascot in June.
Tregoning, who trains in
Lambourn, said: "There is a possibility Bronze Angel could run in the
Darley Stakes on Saturday. He is going to do one more bit of work and then we
will decide but he's coming off a good win so he may well go there.
"He has come out of
Cambridgeshire in fantastic form and we are very pleased with him.
"It was terrific to
win the Cambridgeshire - you can get carried away making these plans but it all
fell right on the day and I was very pleased to win it. I think if he had kept
straight he may have won by two lengths.
"He fits the
profile of a progressive three-year-old and he seems to be improving with every
race. I think he can make his mark at Group Three level, but whether it's this
year or not, I don't know.
"I can see him
getting further than nine furlongs in the future and I always thought we would
have to go further with him, but we haven't had to do it yet.
"As he gets more
mature, he will get a mile and a quarter plus I would hope and he is an
exciting horse for next year."
A seven-race card at
Newmarket on Saturday is headlined by Europe's premier juvenile contest, the
£300,000 Group One Dubai Dewhurst Stakes (2.55pm) , and the £150,000 Vision.ae
Middle Park Stakes (2.20pm) over six furlongs. It also features the second leg of
the 'Autumn Double' when the stayers take centre stage in the £160,000 Betfred
Cesarewitch (3.35pm) over two and a quarter miles.
