Pearl Ice produced a tenacious performance to land the Download The Ladbrokes Bingo App Handicap by a neck at Doncaster this afternoon. The 11/1 shot was always prominent and took up the running with a furlong to go but as they entered the final stages of the race, his rivals were bearing down on him at a rate of knots and it looked like the five-year-old would be swallowed up. He didn't run too badly last time out but maybe the ground was too quick and it was slightly better company than he faced here. "He ran really well at Ripon the time before on good to soft and is a decent sprinter on his day. He's also shown that he can carry weight well so we're hopeful he can land another race before the season is out."
