GOING
REMAINS THE SAME
The going at Doncaster
is expected to be Good to Soft on DFS Ladies' Day, the second day of the
Ladbrokes St Leger meeting.
The going changed from
Good to Good to Soft after the first race on Crown Hotel Bawtry Opening Day
at Doncaster following persistent rain but officials do not expect this to
change any further with relatively little rain forecast.
Roderick Duncan, Clerk of
the Course, said: "We'll keep an eye on the ground overnight as there is
a small amount of rain forecast this evening but I'd imagine tomorrow's
ground will be very similar to that at the end of racing this afternoon.
"We're due a
relatively dry night tonight and it is forecast to be dry all day tomorrow
with temperatures getting up to a maximum of 20 degrees.
"If the forecast is
correct, the ground is likely to be Good to Soft at the start of racing on
DFS Ladies' Day."
Race 7 - Berendsen Workwear Handicap - winner quotes
PEDRO
AT HOME ON TOWN MOOR
Sir Pedro showed his
liking for Doncaster by taking the closing Berendsen Workwear Handicap by a
game neck from Commanche. It was the four-year-old's first victory since
taking his maiden in May last year on his only previous run at the track.
It was also the first
try for the Acclamation gelding, named after Sir Peter O'Sullevan, at five
furlongs after running exclusively over six. "One of the owners
suggested it," said trainer Charlie Hills, "and I thought why not,
we've nothing to lose. He's a bit keen and over six we had to pull him about
a bit. But over five he can just go and I think we'll be sticking to that in
future."
