THE QUEEN'S ESTIMATE ON COURSE FOR DFS PARK HILL STAKES AT DONCASTER ON THURSDAY

Ladbrokes St Leger 2012

DONCASTER RACECOURSE MEDIA RELEASE

Royal Ascot heroine Estimate is among the 17 entries for the £80,000 Group Two DFS Park Hill Stakes (2.55pm) over an extended mile and three quarters at Doncaster on Thursday, September 13, the second day of the Ladbrokes St Leger Festival.

The three-year-old daughter of Monsun, owned by The Queen, was last seen finishing third in the Group Three iShares Fillies' Stakes at Glorious Goodwood on August 2, when beaten three lengths by impressive winner Wild Coco, who could reoppose.

On her penultimate start, the lightly-raced Estimate brought the house down when charging to a five-length victory in the Group Three Queen's Vase over two miles at Royal Ascot on June 22.

John Warren, racing and bloodstock advisor to The Queen, said: "We are looking at the DFS Park Hill Stakes with Estimate.

"She has been prepared for the race since her run at Glorious Goodwood and everything has gone smoothly - Sir Michael (Stoute, trainer) is very happy with her well-being.

"She needs a test of stamina and hopefully this will suit her. She is a nice staying, progressive filly and on the upgrade.

"I think the return to a more conventional and galloping track like Doncaster will suit her.

"With three-year-old fillies that mature like Estimate has been doing, you are always hopeful that there is a few pounds of improvement in them as they progress to each race.

"She is bred to improve and fillies like her tend to do so at this time of year, so I would say there is every chance she will go forwards as opposed to backwards.

"All options will be open to her after the DFS Park Hill Stakes and anything stamina orientated will be her bag."

Other notable entries in the contest restricted to fillies and mares, often termed the fillies' St Leger, include potential French raider Solemia, who would carry a 3lb penalty for a Group Two victory earlier in the year, Listed scorers Pale Mimosa, who is trained by Dermot Weld in Ireland, Midnight Soprano, Good Morning Star, Hazel Lavery, last month's Group Three runner-up Demurely from Ireland's champion trainer Aidan O'Brien and the Godolphin duo Kailani and Rumh.

The second day of the Ladrokes St Leger Festival also features the £55,000 Group Three Japan Racing Association Sceptre Stakes (1.50pm). The seven-furlong contest has attracted 23 entries headed by dual Group Three winner Regal Realm and the highly regarded Sentaril.

The action gets underway at 1.15pm with the £30,000 European Breeders' Fund Carrie Red Fillies' Nursery (27 entries) over an extended six furlongs, while the richest race on the card is the Weatherbys Insurance £300,000 2-Y-O Stakes (2.20pm, 105 remain) over the same distance.

The third race of the day for two-year-olds is the traditionally informative £11,500 crownhotel-bawtry.com Irish EBF Maiden (3.30pm) over a mile, which has attracted 36 entries.

The penultimate race on a seven-race card is the £15,000 Ladbrokes Bingo Handicap (4.05pm, 62 entries) over six furlongs and the action is concluded with the £25,000 DFS Handicap (4.35pm, 22 entries) over a mile and a quarter.

The Ladbrokes St Leger Festival takes place at Doncaster Racecourse between Wednesday, September 12, and Saturday, September 15. For more information go to www.doncaster-racecourse.co.uk
