Declarations were made today for the third and final day of
Newmarket's Cambridgeshire Meeting, Saturday, September 29, Betfred
Cambridgeshire Day, and Newmarket handler Jeremy Noseda is looking forward to
unleashing two of his best juveniles.
The Gold Cheongsam is one of 12 runners in the Group One £163,500 Jaguar Cars
Cheveley Park Stakes (2.25pm) and comes into the six-furlong contest for
fillies on the back of three straight victories, two of which came over six
furlongs on Newmarket's July Course. On her latest start, the daughter of Red
Clubs was successful over seven furlongs in a valuable sales race at Doncaster
on September 13.
Jeremy Noseda said: "I have been delighted with The Gold
Cheongsam since Doncaster and I'm thrilled that we'll have Frankie Dettori back
on board.
"I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the ground
continues to dry as she is a filly who would appreciate very quick ground,
ideally.
"If the ground does ride on the fast side of good on
Saturday, she will be very competitive and I believe she belongs in a contest
such as this."
The field for the Jaguar Cars Cheveley Park Stakes also include
the unbeaten Rosdhu Queen, successful in the Group Two Jaguar Cars
Lowther Stakes over six furlongs at York as well as Sendmylovetorose and
Maureen, who filled the first two places in the Group Two Irish
Thoroughbred Marketing Cherry Hinton Stakes over six furlongs at Newmarket's
Piper-Heidsieck July Festival.
In the opening Group Two £100,000 Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes (1.55pm),
which takes place over a mile for two-year-old colts and geldings, the master
of Shalfleet Stakes is represented by Fantastic Moon who is one of nine
runners. Owned by Saeed Suhail, the Dalakhani colt is unbeaten in two starts.
Following a debut victory over seven furlongs on the July Course on August 3,
Fantastic Moon post a gusty neck victory over Tha'ir in the Group Three Solario
Stakes, also over seven furlongs, at Sandown Park on September 1.
Noseda continued: "Fantastic Moon will be ridden by Johnny
Murtagh.
"He is proving to be a progressive colt and will appreciate
stepping up from seven furlongs to a mile.
"It is another rise in grade for him but he has more than
earned the right to be in the race. He has won both of his races on quick
ground but I don't think it's an issue with him."
The third Pattern race on Saturday's card is the Group One
£160,000 Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes (3.00pm) for which eight fillies
and mares go to post. These include recent Group One Matron Stakes heroine Chachamaidee
and Group One Poule D'Essai Des Pouliches scorer Beauty Parlour, who
both represent Sir Henry Cecil as well as Elusive Kate, a dual Group One
winner for John Gosden.
Michael Appleby will be having his first runner in the £160,000
Betfred Cambridgeshire (3.40pm) when Bancnuanaheireann lines up in the
nine-furlong contest under leading French jockey Christophe Soumillon.
The lightly-raced five-year-old made a winning debut for Irish
handler Jim Bolger in a Listowel maiden in September, 2011, when he won by nine
and a half lengths, but after four lacklustre efforts, he was purchased by his
current owner Dallas Racing for 2,500 guineas at Tattersalls in July.
He made a pleasing debut for Appleby when second in a competitive
mile handicap at Glorious Goodwood on July 31 but has not had the rub of the
green in four subsequent starts, including when sixth at Doncaster on September
15.
Appleby, who trains in Warwickshire, said: "Bancnuanaheireann
is in good form and I think he is an ideal Betfred Cambridgeshire horse.
"The trip will be no problem and although he might like the
ground a little bit softer, he is in good form and I'm expecting a big run.
"I have been happy with how he settled in and his
performances since he's joined us. He was second at Goodwood and then has been
unlucky a few times since - he should have probably won two races.
"The hustle and bustle and the way the Cambridgeshire is run
will suit and I have had it in mind for him ever since we got him - I can see
him being in the first four.
"It's good to have Christophe Soumillon - he is a good jockey
- and I'm looking forward to it."
Leading contenders for the Betfred Cambridgeshire, which has a
maximum field of 35, are headed by William Haggas' lightly-raced three-year-old
Mukhadram while Hughie Morrison, who saddled Supaseus to victory in
2009, will be represented by Chil The Kite.
Marcus Tregoning has only had two runners in the Betfred
Cambridgeshire but he will be doubly represented on Saturday by Boom And
Bust, who won a competitive handicap at Ascot in August, and progressive
three-year-old Bronze Angel, a fast finishing third in the Britannia
Handicap at Royal Ascot.
Roger Varian's Mijhaar endured a luckless passage in the
John Smith's Cup at York in July but goes into Saturday's race on the back of a
fourth-placed finish in the Group Three September Stakes at Kempton. He will
lock horns again with Peter Chapple-Hyam's John Smith's Cup hero King's
Warrior and top-weight Fury, who won a valuable Listed handicap at
York in May.
Last year's winner Prince Of Johanne will bid to become the
first dual winner since Rambo's Hall in 1992, while Talk About, trained
by Mikel Delzangles, will attempt to become the first French-trained victor
since Sayani in 1946.
Betfred Cambridgeshire - Betfred bet: 8 Mukhadram, 9 Chil The
Kite, 12 (from 14) Bronze Angel, 14 Mijhaar, 16 King's Warrior, Rewarded, 20
(from 25) Jack's Revenge, 25 Anderiego, Boom And Bust, Burano, Edmaaj, Fury,
Making Eyes, Man Of Action, Mull Of Killough, Postscript, Prince Of Johanne,
Swiftly Done, Talk About, 33 bar
"Market-support had been building for Chil The Kite but
having drawn stall one it will be fascinating to see if punters keep the faith
over the next 48 hours," said Betfred spokesman Andrew Griffiths.
