Apprentice Siobhan Miller
broke her left collar-bone in a fall in yesterday's final race, the QIPCO
Future Stars Apprentice Handicap, after being unshipped past the winning post
from 7/2 favourite Mean It who finished 15th of the 17 runners.
The 22-year-old was
discharged from St Richard's Hospital, Chichester, yesterday evening after
going for x-rays and went back to Newmarket. She returns to hospital (Addenbrookes
in Cambridge) today for an operation which may involve the insertion of a small
steel plate.
The 7lb-claiming
apprentice, who was an amateur rider last year and can ride at 8st, has enjoyed
three winners this year and was going well according to her agent Andrew Lewis.
Mean It, who did a Devon
Loch-style sprawl when being pulled up, was taken off the course in the equine
ambulance for further examination at the racecourse stables after being
attended by Goodwood Racecourse's vets.
