GROUND
UPDATE
The going remains Good to
Soft overnight after day two of Glorious Goodwood although clerk of the course
Seamus Buckley could see that description changing tomorrow.
"We are not forecast
to get any rain before Friday and if that's the case then I could see the going
changing tomorrow to Good to Soft, Good in places, or Good, Good to Soft in
places.
"We had fine drizzle
this morning that didn't even amount to a millimetre of rain so I left the
going as Good to Soft, which the jockeys agreed with. The GoingStick reading
has gone from 6.8 to 7.2 so it has quickened up a bit.
"Tonight we will be
taking down the far running rail to provide fresh ground for the last three
furlongs from the home bend to the winning post."
Reflecting on the QIPCO
Sussex Stakes, Buckley added: "We were privileged to see such a wonderful
race as the QIPCO Sussex Stakes and it turned out to be just what we had hoped
- the duel on the downs.
"The time of the race
on that ground was amazing and I feel we saw two exceptionally good horses. To
have come within a second of the course record on that ground was a fantastic
effort."
MANNING
AND QUEALLY BANNED
Kevin Manning was banned
for four days (August 14, 15, 16 and 17) following his ride on second-placed
Dawn Approach in the QIPCO Sussex Stakes. He was found to have used his whip
above the permitted level.
