MANAGING DIRECTOR ADAM WATERWORTH HAPPY WITH GLORIOUS GOODWOOD 2013 @Goodwood_Races

Adam Waterworth, the man in charge of Goodwood Racecourse, praised his team for their hard work in making the five days of Glorious Goodwood work.

He said today at the end of the fifth and final day: "I am delighted with how Glorious Goodwood 2013 has gone.

goodwood"It has been a difficult week for the whole team to cope with, especially for clerk of the course Seamus Buckley, because of the weather, which was a complication that none of us needed.

"The weather on Tuesday was awful and all week there have been issues around it.  Even Thursday, which was so hot, had its issues.

"However, the racing has been superb all the week. The highlight was the QIPCO Sussex Stakes as we got the two highest-rated three-year-olds in the world, Dawn Approach and Toronado, and what a race it was - the perfect thriller for a race we marketed as a second Duel on the Downs.

"Apart from the weather, we have had very few issues; the attendances have been good and the crowds very well behaved.

"It has been a week of positives for the new things we introduced. The Secret Garden in the Richmond Enclosure was very well received.

"The parking has got better, the traffic has been flowing more smoothly and the service at the bars has been better. Such things are all very positive.

"This is my third Glorious Goodwood and I have asked a few people during the week how they feel about the racing structure. We will look at all the feedback, but nothing has leapt out.

"The move of the Betfred King George Stakes to Friday has worked as the feature Pattern race of the day. The Artemis Goodwood Cup was great, the bet365 Lennox Stakes was excellent and obviously the QIPCO Sussex Stakes terrific.

"The only disappointment, in how things panned out, was today's Markel Insurance Nassau Stakes, a race I had been looking forward to all week. That particular Duel on the Downs did not materialise.

"There is certainly no major surgery required and it has been a good week. We will begin planning for Glorious Goodwood 2014 next week and look forward to it coming around."

  1. Wow! Love to read the post. The condition of the track is also important whether it is favourable for your horse or not along with the weather condition of that day in which the race will be happening. Singapore Racing
