Weights are revealed today
for the exciting £100,000 Betfair Cash Out Heritage Handicap on the second day
of Goodwood's August Bank Holiday meeting, Saturday, August 24.
Lambourn handler George
Baker is eyeing the valuable seven-furlong contest for his admirable campaigner
Jack's Revenge (8st 9lb), who turned in another solid effort when third
in the Shergar Cup Mile Handicap at Ascot on August 10.
The five-year-old showed
his liking for Goodwood when second behind Ascription in the Poker At Bet365
Handicap at Glorious Goodwood on July 30, and has run creditably in other
valuable handicaps this season.
He finished eighth in the
Buckingham Palace Handicap at Royal Ascot in June and fifth in the Lincoln at
Doncaster in March.
Baker said: "Jack's
Revenge is definitely under consideration for the Betfair Cash Out Heritage
Handicap. He ran a good race at the Shergar Cup and has come out of that race
really well.
"He thrives on big
fields and coming through horses so I think he just hit the front a little bit
too soon at Ascot. He is in no way ungenuine, but when he gets to the front he
thinks he has done enough.
"The further he gets
towed into the race, the better, and seven furlongs in a big field at Goodwood
should really suit him.
"He ran really well
at Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood, and it's a cliche you hear about so many
old handicappers, but he does deserve a big one."
Lockwood, one of five entries for
owner Godolphin and trainer Saeed bin Suroor, and German Group Three scorer Arnold
Lane, trained by Mick Channon, head the weights on 9st 10lb.
Goodwood's leading trainer
Richard Hannon has three entries, headlined by Betfred Mile hero Wentworth
(9st 3lb) and Magic City (8st 13lb), who made it three wins from four
starts with a comfortable victory over the course and distance in the Harwoods
Racing Club Handicap at the Glorious meeting on July 31.
Henry Candy has two
exciting entries in the shape of Betfred Mile runner-up Cape Peron (9st
3lb) and Group Three Jersey Stakes fifth Music Master (9st), while
Middleham trainer Mark Johnston's three entries include Galician (9st
3lb), successful in the Cash Out Multiples On Betfair Only International
Handicap at Ascot on July 27.
Other notable entries
include Bunbury Cup scorer Field Of Dream (9st 5lb) and the Roger
Charlton-trained Pythagorean (8st 7lb).
