Trainer
Richard Hannon recorded his ninth winner at this year's Glorious Goodwood -
equalling the record he set in 2010 - when Art Official took the Fairmont
Nursery.
The colt
became jockey Richard Hughes' eighth winner of the week, his 50th at
all Glorious Goodwood meetings, and his 150th at the track.
Reflecting
on the win and other moments from the past five days, Hannon's son, Richard
jnr, said: "He is a very nice horse and will be even better next year
because he is big and strong. He went [drifted] left-handed on one occasion at
Salisbury, and we do not know why although it could be in the family, but he's
matured since and is going forward. He'll have another couple of runs before
the season ends."
Of Sky
Lantern's run when a beaten favourite in today's Markel Insurance Nassau
Stakes, Hannon said: "It was a very rough race - she travelled well and
didn't get any room. That's how it goes. She stayed 10 furlongs no problem and
she's fine after the race. It just didn't happen for her. We might give her a
break, but could go Sun Chariot Stakes, Matron Stakes and then Breeders' Cup -
it might be two of those three.
"We're
not moaning because she's a very good filly who has had her day and should have
many more.
"We've
had a good week, highlighted by Toronado's win [in the QIPCO Sussex Stakes]. It
was billed as the Duel on the Downs and lived up to that, but we've had some
nice winners in between, including Montiridge, Toormore, a few handicappers and
now a nursery victory. It's been a bit of everything - we're very lucky.
"We're
some £700,000 ahead in the trainers' title race, and this year we have a few
for [QIPCO] Champions Day at Ascot, so we might not be out of the money
there."
