Rider Philippa Holland, a
33-year-old jewellery designer, landed the charity Magnolia Cup for a second
consevutive year when partnering the Tom Dascombe-trained Bellevue Beauty to a
length success from Hireandhire, the mount of Francesca Cumani.
Holland, who scored on
Russian Ballet last year, fell after passing the finishing line last year and
the same thing happened once again.
"The adrenaline has
been flowing since first thing this morning. It's the most amazing feeling -
you become aware of the stands and the people around you and then suddenly it's
the line. All you want to do is carry on going. It's my second year falling off
as well!," said Holland.
"I thought I was
fitter than I actually was and I'm just lucky to have had the chance to ride
these horses."
Cumani was closing all the
time in second and felt that a whip would have helped her cause. "It's a
bit frustrating not to have got there. We were closing all the time. It's
difficult because we are understandably not allowed whips but I think it would
made a big difference if I could have given him one smack."
Channel 4 Racing's Gina
Bryce finished seventh aboard Clic Sargent and commented: "It was good
fun, that's the main thing. My face is a little more rouge than when I went out
- it's really tiring, to be honest. But at least I pulled up!"
