Trade Storm will be off on his
travels after he contests the £100,000 Group Two Betfair Celebration Mile on
the second day of Goodwood's August Bank Holiday meeting, Saturday, August 24.
The five-year-old has been
holding his own in Group One company this season and was last seen finishing a
respectable fourth behind Toronado in the brilliant renewal of the QIPCO Sussex
Stakes at Glorious Goodwood on July 31.
David Simcock's charge
posted two promising efforts at Ascot, coming home a close fourth under a
penalty in the Group Two Summer Mile in July and finishing fifth in the Group
One Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.
The son of Trade Fair
enjoyed a successful spell in Dubai earlier this year, annexing a nine-furlong
handicap and the Group Two Zabeel Mile before a fourth-placed finish in the
Group One Dubai Duty Free on World Cup Night, March 30.
Simcock, who trains at
Trillium Place in Newmarket, said: "Trade Storm is likely to run in the
Betfair Celebration Mile.
"He came out of the
QIPCO Sussex Stakes in great form, but probably found the ground a little bit
on the soft side and also came up against three exceptional colts, so we
weren't disappointed.
"This is more his grade
in Britain and, as long as he gets decent, fast ground, we are hoping he will
run a good race.
"After the
Celebration, the Woodbine Mile (Grade One, September 15) in Canada is very much
on the radar and he will be odds-on to go back to Dubai in the spring."
Trade Storm could clash at
Goodwood with the evergreen nine-year-old Premio Loco, who repelled Thistle
Bird and Aljamaaheer to score last year, and yesterday's impressive
Group Three Sovereign Stakes victor Afsare.
Irish champion trainer Aidan
O'Brien has four possible contenders, headed by last year's St James's Palace
Stakes hero Most Improved and exciting US import Darwin.
There are plenty more top
performers among the 20 other entries going forward for the Betfair Celebration
Mile at Goodwood on August 24.
